Types of Hotels and Accommodations
Accommodation labels are useful only when you understand what they usually imply. The same label can still vary by country and operator, so verify actual services before booking.
Full-service and limited-service hotels
Full-service properties may include restaurants, room service, meeting space and more staff support. Limited-service hotels often focus on rooms, breakfast and core conveniences at a lower operating cost.
Boutique and independent stays
Boutique properties usually emphasize distinctive design, smaller scale or local character. Independent hotels can range from simple inns to highly luxurious properties.
Aparthotels and vacation rentals
Kitchen facilities, separate living space and laundry can be valuable on longer stays, but housekeeping, reception hours and cancellation terms may differ from a conventional hotel.
Resorts
Resorts are destinations as well as accommodations, with pools, activities, dining, recreation or spa facilities intended to keep more of the vacation on property.
